Police chief reviews community policing, asks officers for effective implementation
New Delhi: After reviewing the community policing scheme, the Delhi Police Commissioner guided senior officers for better and effective implementation of various initiatives taken by city police for the safety of citizen.
The police chief held a meeting on the first week of June in which discussions were held regarding the following topic.
Police sources told Millennium Post that the top cop said that districts DCsP should identify important colonies to organise a meetings with residents for meaningful and effective implementation of "Neighbourhood Watch Scheme".
"In order to promote a long-lasting partnership with the community and to enhance safety and reduce the fear of crime, the mechanism of "Neighbourhood Watch Scheme" has been successfully run by Delhi Police in the city," police said in their annual report of 2018. In the meeting, police chief further told officers that under the "Sashakti scheme", district DCsP should organise programmes for women and girls. The DCsP were further told that under "Shistachar Scheme", district DCsP should form dedicated teams including women police in plain clothes to nab offenders /eve teasers and take appropriate legal action.
"Under the "Nirbheek Scheme", trained women staff should be tasked to go to school/colleges and sensitise girls/women about preventive precautions against the sexual offender, the police chief said in the meeting," sources said. During 2018, nearly 3,13,166 students participated in this scheme. The top cop further told that under the "Yuva Scheme", apart from organising sports activities for youth in delinquency prone colonies, yoga programmes should periodically be organised.
Talking on Yuva Scheme, Joint Commissioner of Police (southern range) Devesh Chandra Srivastava said they will take every steps for the development of youth under the scheme which includes Yoga.
"Recently YUVA trainees had participated in the International Day of Yoga," said Joint CP. In 2018, as many as 809 sports events have been conducted in which 18,952 children participated.
