Plogging drives organised in NDMC areas

New Delhi: Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra on Sunday launched a 'plogging drive' for parks and gardens in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area on Sunday.

Mishra appealed to Delhites to inculcate a habit of clearing litters from parks, gardens, roads, lanes and surrounding areas while walking or jogging in the morning and evening and dump it in nearby dustbins, so as to make the city, country and even the planet a healthy and environment-friendly place.

After administering the Swachhta Pledge to participants, Mishra flagged off the plogging drive in the midst of morning walkers at Nehru Park. which culminated at Chanakyapuri.

The senior bureaucrat also said it was the responsibility and duty of local civic bodies like MCD, DDA, CPWD, Delhi Cantonment Board and NDMC to motivate and encourage morning walkers of their respective areas to extend their contribution and co-operation for making neat, clean and green areas to upkeep the natural beauty of the Capital.

Additionally, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, along with NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar, launched another plogging drive at Khan Market area in New Delhi area.

The drive is a joint effort of NDMC and Delhi Police, aimed at inculcating the habit of picking up litter from the path, while walking or jogging.
