Pieces of man's dismembered body found scattered in Gandhi Vihar

In a gory incident, an unidentified man's body was found chopped into several pieces and strewn around North Delhi's Gandhi Vihar area on Friday.
An auto driver first spotted the hands and legs of the body wrapped in a bed sheet near Gopalpur red light and Wazirabad flyover when he was passing through the route. He later also found the decapitated head, after which he called cops.

Later, in the afternoon, police managed to find the torso wrapped in a gunny bag near Majnu Ka Tila. Cops are yet to identify the victim. They believe he was murdered two days ago and his body was preserved by the killer, who later tried to dispose it off.

The incident came to light when police received a PCR call Friday morning. "We received a PCR call around 7 am from an auto driver who told us that he found several body parts of a man wrapped in polythene and concealed in a bed sheet.

We deputed the crime team along with a forensic team to investigate the matter," said a senior police official from North District. "The body was found scattered across a two kilometre radius. There is a drain nearby so we also sent police to scour the area for the missing torso but were unable to trace it till the later afternoon," the official added.

Based on preliminary investigation, police told Millennium Post that the man might have been in his 30s. "The scattered body parts were in a decomposed state. But after the forensic team investigation, we also found that the killer had preserved the body and was looking for a place to dump the body. We are also looking into the CCTV footages along the route to look for any clues pertaining to the case," the official further said.

Investigators have now contacted the local police stations and are looking at details of all missing persons in the last two weeks. A case of murder has been registered.
