PCR call helps bust cable thieves' gang
New Delhi: On Saturday night, a PCR call was received at Okhla Vihar metro police station regarding some persons walking along the metro tracks in South East Delhi. Without wasting any time, the Delhi Police reached the spot and arrested two persons and apprehended two juveniles who were involved in cable theft.
The accused were identified as Abid (23) who works as rag picker, and his friend Sumit Kumar (20), a cobbler by profession and two juveniles. Police claimed that an e-FIR was registered on the complaint of DMRC officials regarding the theft of 33kv copper cable worth many lakhs of rupees and during the investigation the police team got the information about the accused through the PCR call and they were nabbed. "When the police team reached the spot they were found hiding in bushes," said the officer.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (metro) Deepak Gauri stated that during further verification of facts the two arrested accused have more than 10 involvements. They have previously been involved in cases of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and snatching. Sumit is addicted to Ganja smoking and other details are being verified. Police recovered 60-feet 33 KV Cable worth Rs 1.2 Lakh.
