Parents protests against fee hike by Amity International School

Scores of infuriated parents staged a protest against the alleged fee hike by Amity International School in Sector 1, Vasundhara in Ghaziabad on Wednesday.

The protest by parents comes in the wake of a series of protests and demonstrations by parents' groups against various private schools across Delhi-NCR over an increase in fee.

"They think that we are an ATM machine from which they can dispense money as per their convenience," echoed the parents.

The parents alleged that Amity International School makes unpredictable fee hike every year. Also, in past five years, the school fee has doubled.
"They hiked bus fare, charges on school dress, admission fees and installation of various facilities," alleged parents.

Some parents were annoyed over annual charges made by the school even after charging a lofty admission fee and infrastructure development fee.

"We insist the management focus on the future rather than making money," said a parent.

Parents have demanded the setting up of a state regulatory body to control the fee hike in private schools.

Parents whose children study at Amity International School alleged that the fee has been hiked by 170percent in the past eight years.

"Compared to last year, the hike is 25 percent this year", said a parent.
