The Millennium City on Friday witnessed a protest held by hundreds of parents against the massive pay hike by a private school.
Expressing their resentment against the management of DPSG School situated in Palam Vihar, the parents conducted the protests. This school has increased the fee structure by almost 250 per cent.
According to the new fee structure, parents who used to pay around Rs 65,000 annually are now asked to pay Rs 165000.
The agitating parents rejected the school management's claim that the fee structure was increased in order to enhance the educational system for its students.
According to the parents, the decision to increase the fee structure was to not improve the education facilities but a plot hatched by the management to loot the parents who are left with no other alternatives.
The parents have scheduled a meeting with the school management on Saturday over this issue.
Also, certain parents have lodged the complain regarding the fee hike to Deputy Commissioner Hardeep Singh.
"The management of the DPSG want to loot the hard earned money of middle class parents. Imagine the plight of the people like who are saving hard earned money in order to ensure quality education for their children. It will be difficult for me to sustain the education of both my children who are studying in the school. Earlier in terms of improving the education facilities the school management used to increase the fee structure by two thousand to three thousand. However, this time the fee hike has been exorbitant" said a parent who asked for anonymity.
"We have written about the matter to the Deputy Commissioner so that the DC can take cognisance of the organised loot that is taking place and stop this exploitation," added the parent.
This year citing the implementation of seventh pay commission, most of the private schools increased their school fee structure in the city.
