Pall of gloom descends over family of woman shot dead

New Delhi: The gang-war related shootout in Sant Nagar area of north Delhi's Burari was a horrific experience for the residents. However, the shootout also claimed the lives of two innocent bystanders and injured some others passing by.

For almost three minutes, bullets were fired indiscriminately fired from both gangs at each other. As it was a Monday, residents in the area were going to their offices or opening their shops.

One such local was Geeta, who was on her to work when one of the stray bullets hit her.

Like everyday Sangeeta, the sole breadwinner in her family, was going to her workplace and waiting for an auto-rickshaw when a bullet hit her.

According to her neighbours, with Sangeeta's demise, her family is now questioning their own survival. A pal of gloom descended at her residence in Sant Nagar, where residents of the area were seen talking about what would happened to Sangeeta's family, as she was the sole earner.

Sangeeta's two kids were in shock after coming to know of their mother's unfortunate demise. They had planned to visit another state for a family reunion and were thinking of buying some new clothes in the evening for the party. However, the shootout has now shattered their happiness.

Family members claimed that they came to know about the news of the firing, but never thought that Geeta will never return back.

Moreover, a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle, owned by one of the two gangs and involved in the incident, immediately tried to flee the spot and drove in a rash manner.

This resulted in two innocent bystanders being hit by the vehicle, who are currently in the hospital.

One more person, identified as Raj Kumar, who was standing nearby with his motorcycle was hit by the Scorpio car and taken to hospital for treatment, where he subsequently passed away.
