Palam: 3 in cop net for illegal LPG storage, refilling racket

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly running an illegal LPG storage and refilling racket from a residential area in Palam Village in southwest Delhi.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Police Station Palam Village conducted a raid on March 28 at a vacant plot in Adarsh Gali. The accused — Anaar Singh of Jai Vihar, Najafgarh; Satyaveer of Tamil Enclave, Dabri; and Vikas Kumar of Raj Nagar-II, Palam — were apprehended at the spot.

Police recovered 45 Bharat Gas cylinders, a tempo used for transportation, and equipment allegedly used for transferring gas. Officials said the accused were refilling cylinders using nozzles and a weighing machine without any safety measures and could not produce valid licences.

During questioning, the trio allegedly admitted to renting the plot to store cylinders and refilling them for profit. The operation was suspected to be linked to staff of Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri.

The SDM of Dwarka, along with officials from BPCL and the Food Safety Department, inspected the site and confirmed the illegal activity. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Essential Commodities Act. All seized items, including cylinders and equipment, have been taken into custody, and further probe is underway.
