Over 90% of UG applicants in DU are CBSE examinees
NEW DELHI: Around 90 per cent of undergraduate applicants in Delhi University this year gave the CBSE examination. The second highest number of students were from by Uttar Pradesh board, followed by students of Haryana boards, data released by DU on Monday states.
Of the 2,78,574 official applicants in undergraduate courses, 2,49,694 are from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Students from boards of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, are the next two, contributing 22,266 and 10,858 students, respectively. This is followed by students from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, a private board, from which 9,681 students applied in DU. A total of 3,856 students registered from the National Institute of Open Schooling. 1,434 students from J&K state board of school education aapplid for Delhi university.
The University received 410 applications from West Bengal council of Higher Secondary Education, while 277 applicants were from Aligarh Muslim University board.
The lowest number of applicants were from the Mizoram Board of School Education, with 245 applicants for UG graduate courses.
Admission process will kickstart with the publishing of the first cut-off on June 19.
The varsity has provisioned for five cut-offs in all this year, but it may increase.
