More than two lakh paver tiles that were used for setting up at helipad at Leisure Valley for the Haryana Day celebrations have been stolen.
Over 2.88 lakh tiles amounting to more than Rupees 22 lakh were used for setting up of helipad that was used for receiving of dignitaries for the celebrations held on November 1.
The helipad was also used by the Haryana Government for receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was the Chief Guest.
After the event, the tiles came under the possession of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).
The officials of MCG were planning to use the tiles for other developmental works. However, it has been found by the MCG officials that over 2.10 lakh tiles have now gone missing.
The other seventy thousand tiles have been utilised by the MCG officials for other developmental works.
The MCG has written a complaint letter to the Gurugram Police and has asked the police to recover the tiles.
Even though the complaint of missing tiles was first cited by the former MCG commissioner TL Satyaprakash, there was no concrete action taken on the complaint even as an inquiry report was submitted on the matter.
Commenting on the matter, MCG Commissioner V Umashankar has stated that official authorities are in the process of finding the missing tiles.
The MCG Commissioner also stated that soon an investigation over the missing tiles will be initiated by the official authorities.
The paver tiles that were used for the construction of the helipad are expensive than the normal tiles that are used for pavements.
