Over 2,000 challaned during Shab-e-Barat procession

New Delhi: As many as 2,029 persons were challaned by Delhi Traffic Police for riding bikes without helmets during Shab-e-Barat on May 1 night. On the same day, police also received more than 4,000 PCR calls regarding quarrel.
The police also challaned 739 persons for triple riding on the day, an official said.
The Delhi Police had put in heavy security arrangements to prevent stunt biking and facilitate people offering prayers on the occasion. Police pickets were deployed to prevent stunt biking by youngsters, the official added.
On the same day, police received several police control room calls.
The data of PCR calls from 4 pm on May 1 to 12 pm on May 2 claimed that around 4,970 calls of quarrel were reported whereas accident related calls were around 557 and road rage related incidents were 53.
According to the police in some cases, there were multiple calls of the same incident. For instance, if there is any quarrel, both the parties involved in the argument had made the call to PCR and some calls were also made by the passerby of the area.
Delhi Police took proper action in all the calls.
