New Delhi: Dispute over a newly-constructed property in Pochanpur village was the motive for the murder of notorious gangster Sandeep alias Mental and his associate Pawan in Dwarka Sector 23 on Wednesday, with Delhi Police on Thursday arresting the prime accused.
The arrest of Arjun Dalal, a permanent resident of village Matan in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, was made from Dwarka. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh said that Dalal got involved with other criminals to earn a quick buck and command respect.
He soon became part of a gang led by one Rajeev.
"Sandeep was also an infamous criminal of Najafgarh area, who also worked as the property dealer. He had threatened to eliminate Rajeev, due to some dispute over a newly constructed property in Pochanpur village of Dwarka," said the DCP.
He added that Rajeev discussed the threat with his associates Arjun and Akshay, who decided to help him and collected information about Sandeep's movement. Cops said that another friend of theirs, Mani, was part of the murder.
The accused were tipped off that Sandeep would reach Dwarka court on Wednesday morning and travel in a Maruti Swift car. "Accordingly, they followed him in a car and a motorcycle. They got a chance to attack his ar in Bamnoli village and fired indiscriminately on the car," police said.
A joint police team of Special Staff of Dwarka District, led by Sub-Inspector Naveen, Kumar and Dwarka Sector-23 police station made the arrest.
