One arrested for assaulting DU student, her brother

New Delhi: A Delhi University student was misbehaved and her brother beaten up in Badarpur area of south Delhi by some drunken miscreants, Delhi Police said on Wednesday, adding that one of the accused persons has been arrested.

The incident took place around 11 pm on Tuesday, when the woman was returning home with her brother, police said.

As soon as the culprits fled the spot after assaulting the victims, they approached the nearest police station and filed a complaint.

Eventually, a case was registered and cops located one fo the accused, identified as 24-year-old Rahul Kumar, and arrested him. Police said Kumar works as a housekeeping supervisor at a hospital in Faridabad.

"Calls related to a quarrel in Jaitpur circle were received. The woman complainant on the spot stated that she was going in an auto-rickshaw with her brother to her house and that on reaching the Jaitpur More, two men on a motorcycle came in front of their auto-rickshaw and arguments started," Deputy Commissioner of Police(South East), Chinmoy Biswal, said.

"One of them was drunk, hurled abuses and misbehaved," the officer said.
