NSUI protests lack of action against DUSU president
New Delhi: The Congress-affiliated student body National Students' Union of India held a protest against the fraudulent admission of newly-elected president of Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Ankiv Baisoya on Thusday, and claimed that DU authorities are delaying and stepping over the Lyngdoh Committee guidlines.
In a statement, NSUI said that pre-established facts against the elected DUSU President Ankiv Basoya state that his BA degree has been found out to be fake.
"In this regard, the honourable Supreme Court had ordered an investigation on the matter. However, disregarding this order to investigate the matter further, and stepping over the Lyngdoh Committee guidelines, this matter is being pushed aside without proper action being taken," the statement said
"During the entire protest, when NSUI activists wanted to raise their voice against the injustice being caused, the University authorities, in full display of 'saffron ideology', used force to disperse student activists and threw them off the campus," said Saimon Farooqui, national secretary, NSUI.
Another protesting member said that the during the protest, NSUI members were not given a single chance to speak to the authority, and later police was called to end the protest.
He also said that student activists did not lose hope and assembled at Patel Chowk and continued their protest there.
"However, the violation of the human rights of these NSUI activists did not stop here. The Delhi Police upon being pressurised by the University administration, used more rigorous force upon them and the activists were sent to Maurice Nagar Police Station whereby they were made to sit for hours," he added.
