NSIT overcharging fees; students seek Sisodia's intervention

NEW DELHI: Students of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in Delhi have sought Education Minister Manish Sisodia's intervention, alleging that the college authorities have been charging enormous fees to register for back-log exams. "We are not eligible for an internship if we have backlogs in the first and second year, which we are allowed to clear in the third year only. We are being asked to re-attend all the classes, even if they clash with our current semester classes," a letter sent by students to Sisodia read.

Sisodia has forwarded the letter to D S Pandit, Director of Higher Education, who has been asked to look into the matter and take appropriate action. According to a notice issued by the college authority, third-year students of NSIT have been asked to pay a fee of Rs 10,000 per subject to register themselves for back-log papers of odd semesters (I and III).

An additional amount of Rs 800 as examination fee along with Rs 100 is also being charged for per semester mark sheet, students added. Calls and text messages seeking comments on the issue from the Dean, S P Singh, were left unanswered.
