Northern Railway celebrates World Environment Day
New Delhi: Northern Railway on Tuesday celebrated the World Environment Day. This year's theme is "AIR POLLUTION". Banners and Posters were displayed on the perils of Air Pollution.
An awareness rally was held at Baroda House Today. It was lead by Archana Joshi, Additional General Manager. Chandralekha Mukherjee, Senior Deputy General Manager, Arun Arora, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, senior officials and staff of Northern Railway participated in the rally.
According to Deepak Kumar (Chief Public Relations Officer) earlier on Sunday, a sit-in drawing and Painting completion were held at Bharat Scouts and Guides Training Centre, Kishanganj. 82 Children of different age groups participated in the event. A tree plantation programme was also held at Kishanganj. Prizes were given to the winners of the completions by Arun Arora, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer today.
Northern Railway the largest zone of IR has been alive to the need to improve energy efficiency over its Divisions, maintenance workshops and production units. According to Northern railway, Indian Railways is a sustainable mode of transportation. It is uniquely positioned in the economy of India for carrying a large volume of passenger and goods without imposing an unacceptable environmental cost.
