Noida Traffic Police issue 12.3K ‘challans’ over weekend
NOIDA: The Noida police on Sunday said it impounded 86 vehicles and issued 12,358 challans for various traffic violations, in a two-day crackdown over the weekend aimed at improving road safety.
The traffic police carried out the special campaign on Saturday and Sunday across key areas including Rajnigandha Chowk, Sector 37, Sector 62 Roundabout, Surajpur Chowk, Pari Chowk, Dadri, and several other hotspots in Greater Noida, an official statement said. “On July 6, a total of 7,406 e-challans were issued and 47 vehicles seized,” said a police spokesperson.
The violations included 4,630 instances of riding without helmets, 249 cases of driving without seat belts, and 141 instances of triple riding.
Other infractions included 44 cases of using mobile phones while driving, 863 vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 563 vehicles driving in the wrong direction, 49 noise pollution violations, 77 air pollution violations, 186 vehicles with faulty number plates, 216 instances of jumping red lights, and 55 cases of driving without a licence.
Additionally, 333 other miscellaneous violations were recorded, the spokesperson said. The campaign continued on Sunday with further enforcement.
“On the second day, 4,952 e-challans were issued and 39 vehicles were seized,” the spokesperson added.
Violations on Sunday included 3,630 instances of riding without helmets, 103 cases of driving without seat belts, 87 instances of triple riding, and 19 cases of using mobile phones while driving. Other recorded violations were 431 vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 202 vehicles driving in the wrong direction, 27 noise pollution violations, 42 air pollution violations, 77 vehicles with faulty number plates, 96 instances of running red lights, and 55 cases of driving without a licence.
