Noida Authority seals eight houses, seven shops for illegal construction

Noida: Acting on the illegal constructions in the city, Noida Authority on Friday, sealed eight multi-storey buildings and seven shops which were found to be constructed illegally on the land acquired by the authority.

According to senior authority officials, the drive against illegal constructions was conducted in Garhi Chuakhandi village and in sectors 57 and 58 of the city. Around eight multi-storey buildings with over hundred residential units were sealed by the authority. Apart from this, the authority also sealed seven shops and razed five hotels in sector 58 area as a part of anti-encroachment drive.

"The buildings were issued several notices in the past as they were found doing illegal construction on the land acquired by the authority. As several notices were left unanswered, the authority undertook a drive to seal these buildings. Apart from these few food joints, kiosk and food stalls were razed as a part of anti-encroachment drive in sector 57 and 58 of Noida. The encroachment was removed and some of their material was seized. They have been warned against encroaching the land again with harsher punishment," said a senior official of Noida Authority.

The official said that the drive was conducted in the presence of authority officials and the police.

The Noida Authority's action came a day after it razed the illegal construction at the house of an additional district magistrate (ADM) in Sector 29 here.

Two balconies, an asbestos shed above a car garage and two temporary garages were removed from the house of the ADM, who was engaged in a bitter spat with a retired Army colonel over the illegal construction.
