Noida Authority installs Thaila bank
Noida: Noida authority, on Sunday, installed a Thaila (cloth bag) bank at sector 37 entry gate focusing to put an end over the single use plastic and polythene.
Officials said that similar banks will be installed at other residential sectors and high rise societies in the city soon.
The inauguration was done by Noida MLA Pankaj Singh in presence of senior Noida authority officials.
The MLA also distributed hundreds of dustbins, home composting kits, cloth bags to individual homes in residential sectors.
As per new facility, residents can avail a cloth bag free of cost from the bank and can use it to ferry goods to their homes and later deposit it back.
"People who are not carrying any cloth bag with them for shopping daily groceries can collect free of cost a cloth bag from the Thaila bank and can return back after dropping groceries at their home.
The move will contribute towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to eliminate the single use plastic," a senior officer of Noida authority said.
The officer further said that the facility will be extended to other sectors and high rise societies as well where the authority will distribute 15-20 cloth bags to each housing high rise complex.
Apart from this, the authority also started an intensive check over sanitation across the city and have deployed an officer from public health department who will check single use plastic disposal like cups, glass, polythene bags, open dumping of garbage and encroachment in their work circle areas.
