Noida: In a bid to provide a relief to commuters of Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi, Noida Authority on Thursday approved the proposal to built a much-needed elevated road, starting from near Noida Sector-14A to Master Plan-3 road near Mahamaya flyover.
According to officials of the Authority, the elevated road will be 5.54 km long and come up at an cost of Rs 650 crore.
"Keeping in mind the heavy traffic flow during the peak hours near Noida Sector 14A to 16A and ahead, the Authority has sought to construct the road which will ease the traffic. Once complete, the elevated road will serve as a dedicated fast-access, a signal-free corridor for vehicles moving between Noida and Kalindi Kunj. It will reduce travel time between Delhi and Noida significantly," said a senior official from the Authority.
The decision was taken at the Authority's 194th board meeting on Thursday, headed by chairman-CEO Alok Tandon.
The meeting also witnessed a drastic reduction in the Authority's budget, as compared to last year. For the year 2018-19, the Authority announced a budget of Rs 4,350 crore, Rs 3,720 crore less than last year's allocation of Rs 8,070 crore.
Furthermore, the Authority sought to provide relief to paying guest (PG) accomodations running in the city.
"The Authority will now allow a maximum of 50 per cent residential space to be used for operating a PG in Noida sectors. However, it is mandatory that such residential complexes must be situated on either 18 metres or bigger roads or must be at corner plots with similar specification. Also, mixed land usage tax has to be paid to the Authority for approval of such PG accommodation facilities in residential sectors," the official added.
The Authority has also increased the one-time lease rent by 15 per cent, which will come into effect in August. Before August, applicants can deposit their lease rent at the previous rate, i.e. 11 per cent.
Additionally, the Authority also approved a proposal to provide Rs two crore for scholarship fund setup at Gautam Buddha University.
