Noida Authority conducts cleanliness drive on birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
Noida/Greater Noida: The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was totally dedicated towards cleanliness and against use of plastic as the residents of twin cities Noida, Greater Noida and officials of both the authorities conducted various activities for cleaning the city including plog run, cleaning parks and roads, wall paintings and others.
In Noida, the Noida authority conducted plog run across the city where over 21 thousand residents along with authority officials collected over 20 tonnes of plastic waste from all over the city.
Officials said that the plastic waste collected has been sent to waste to energy plant at Okhla in delhi and will be recycled to be used in resurfacing roads. Noida Authority, CEO, Ritu Maheshwari also flagged off 35 vehicles for door-to-door collection in the city.
In Greater Noida, nearly 600 students from 60 schools participated in a drawing event where the participants made paintings related to cleanliness.
Apart from this students of paras public school and IIMT college performed Nukkad Natak to encourage people towards cleanliness. The event was organised by Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) at city Park.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) also inaugurated a Plastic Garbage Disposal Machine at Sector 51 Metro Station. Officials said that the Plastic Disposal Machine will be used to crush plastic bottles and collect plastic bags which are otherwise thrown away and pollute the environment.
The counters have been set up at five NMRC stations namely; Sector 51, Sector 76, Sector 142, Knowledge Park – II and Pari Chowk where people can deposit plastic bags or bottles to get 1 Jute Bag in return.
