NMRC to install e-cycle stand at 3 Metro stns

Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) are trying all hands to facilitate commuters on the Aqua line that connects Noida to Greater Noida. The board has started installing cycle stand at three out of the eight chosen metro stations of Aqua line where electronic bikes and cycles will be parked and these can be used by commuters through a public bike sharing system.

As per senior NMRC officials, in first phase the cycle stand will be installed at three metro stations. "Eight metro stations –sectors 51, 50, 76, 148, Pari Chowk, Knowledge Park 2, Alpha 1 and Delta 1 have been selected to start the facility. Initially ten cycles will be placed at these stations and we expect that more cycles might be placed depending on the demand in the area," said a senior NMRC officer.

The officer further said that the cycles will be issued through a mobile application and they will be fitted with GPS to ensure that they are not stolen. The charges will be decided after the initial work will be completed but it has been proposed that NMRC might charge Rs 5 per cycle for five minutes and Rs 15 for half an hour. An additional charge of Rs 1 will be charged for every additional minute.

Apart from this, in a bid to facilitate women commuters, the NMRC has also identified two stations and have decided to develop the metro stations of Sector 51 and Pari Chowk as pink stations, which will have facilities like baby feeding room, sanitary pad vending machines, selfie point and green rooms.
