Nine health workers test +ve at Kalawati Hospital
New Delhi: Coronavirus cases among the health workers are increasing, and have raised a concern among doctors. About nine health workers, including three doctors have been tested positive at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital, even as doctors had demanded more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits. This comes two day after cases of three health workers testing positive from the hospital had come out.
Speaking to Millennium Post, a resident doctor at the hospital said that at the moment they have the safety gear, which is on the verge of getting out of stock. "About three doctors and six nurses have been tested positive from the hospital. There is a crisis but the administration has provided us with adequate kits," said the doctor.
According to sources, most of the health workers were exposed to Covid-19 patients at the hospital, raising the issue of safety gear. "The way crisis are going, PPE kits might become an issue pretty soon," said the doctor. The hospital that comes under the Central government had been demanding PPE kits since the crisis started.
Meanwhile, the contact tracing of those infected has been started. The hospital authorities held a meeting for the plan of action regarding the containment of the virus in the hospital.
On the other hand, at least two doctors and six nurses at the Lady Hardinge Medical College here have tested positive for Coronavirus, Hospital officials said on Sunday. They were all deployed at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
"2 doctors and 6 nurses of Delhi's Lady Hardinge hospital test positive for COVID19. Hospital authorities have quarantined all eight healthcare staff. Their contact tracing has been started. Hospital authorities holding a meeting for the containment plan of the hospital," a hospital official said.
The hospital has initiated a contact tracing to find out who all had come in contact with them in the last few days.
According to a doctor, a 10-month-old baby who was recently brought to the emergency department with respiratory problems had tested positive for COVID-19. Now, the entire Paediatric ICU is being sanitised, the doctor said. "The father also tests positive. The mother's test report awaited. The pediatric ICU is now being sanitized, said the official.
Meanwhile, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby has died of Coronavirus infection at a hospital in Delhi, officials said on Sunday, in perhaps the first fatality of an infant due to COVID-19 in the national Capital.
The baby died at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital attached to the Centre-run Lady Hardinge Medical College.
"The baby was brought to the hospital a few days ago. He tested positive for COVID-19. The child was admitted to SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Illness) ward and died yesterday," a doctor at the hospital said on the condition of anonymity.
