MHA website not hacked; it's under construction: Official

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) website is blocked due to repair work and configuration. It has not been hacked, an official confirmed on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the website remained inaccessible, and was subsequently attributed to hacking in many reports. It was reported that the website was hacked by
an unknown source and in an immediate response the authorities have temporarily blocked it.

The ministry also reportedly took a step forward to investigate. While speaking to Millennium Post the official said, "The website is blocked and the investigation is
going on."

However later putting all ends to the speculation about hacking of the official website of MHA he confirmed that, "There has been no hacking. The site is under
construction that is why it's down."

Even in the last month, a similar incident was suspected that Pakistan-affiliated operatives had hacked the official website of the elite National Security Guard (NSG)
and defaced it with a profanity-laden message against the Prime Minister and anti-India content.

Thus, in the last week, the ministry had said in a written report to the Lok Sabha that more than 700 websites of various central and state government departments were hacked in the past four years and a total of 8,348 persons were arrested for their involvement in cyber crimes.
