Gurugram gold heist: Four arrested

The Crime Branch of Gurugram Police on Saturday arrested four persons who were involved in committing burglary at a private gold finance company branch in the city on February 9.

Three burglars were arrested in Gurugram. The fourth criminal has been arrested from Ahmedabad. The police are in hunt for the other four burglars involved in the heist. The arrested burglars have been identified as Manoj Saini who is the resident of Farukhnagar, Gurugram, Vikas Gupta who is the resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Vijender and Devender who are residents of Jind, Haryana.

While Manoj, Vikas and Vijender were arrested from Gurugram, Devender was arrested from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The police have recovered 30 kg gold from the burglars. The cops also seized two pistols and live cartridges.

All four burglars have been charged under Sections 397, 398 and illegal arms Act. Intriguingly, all the four men arrested are in their 20s. The youngest person among the four is only 24 years and the eldest is 29 years.

In a press briefing held on Saturday, Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar mentioned that the young criminals were being interrogated by the Gurugram Police on their past criminal records.

The Gurugram Police confirmed that the heist at the private gold finance company had resulted in the theft of 33 kg gold along with Rs 7 lakh, eighty thousand in amount. "The Gurugram Police have been successful in getting hold of certain burglars who were involved in the heist. It is only through further interrogation that we will know how many other people are involved in this burglary besides these eight," said Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar.

"The images and videos of the dreaded robbers caught in the CCTV cameras was a very useful medium for our team to catch hold of them," added the Gurugram Police Commissioner.

The daring incident of a daylight robbery at a gold finance branch in the heart of the city on Thursday had resulted in the major criticism of law and order in Gurugram. A special team led by Gurugram Police Commissioner is in charge of solving the case.
