DDA tables Budget, hike in receipts expected

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Friday presented its Budget for the financial year 2017-18. The Budget expenditure for the year has been set at Rs 8,415 crore.
Expenses of Rs 3,557 crore for houses and shops, Rs 750 crore for acquisition of land, Rs 2,865 crore for Development of land and Rs 1,243 crore for establishment and miscellaneous expenditure will be incurred.
Other decisions on the redevelopment of Kathputli colony and change of land use were also discussed in the Authority meeting. Meanwhile, the Budget receipts for the next fiscal have been set at Rs 6,801 crore, an increase of 200 percent from last year.
Hike in receipts has been expected due to disposal of houses, lands and interest from investments. The Budget also approved as many as 35 new land development schemes and seven new housing and related development works. "Ongoing housing schemes are being undertaken at Dwarka, Jasola, Rohini, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Jahangir Puri, Kondli and other areas, while ongoing development schemes are being undertaken at Rohini, Narela and Bakkarwala. Besides this, two integrated freight complexes were also approved by the Authority," said an official.
With an aim to speed up redevelopment of Kathputli Colony, DDA has decided to identify additional squatting families and shifting beneficiaries to the existing transit camp or in the built up EWS housing of DDA. Regarding accommodation of additional slum dwellers for rehabilitation in EWS housing development by DDA, the proposal will be examined in detail by the Authority for formulation of a policy in this regard. DDA officials informed that on the request of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, a proposal has been placed before the authority for relaxation in height for the construction of multi-level parkings at Sant Nagar and Shiva Market from 15m to non-restricted, at Shastri Park from 15 metres to 18.10 metres. "The above relaxation is subject to approval of AAI [Airports Authority of India], Delhi Fire Services and other statutory bodies.
The provisions of multi-level parking given in MPD-2021 and Unified Building Bye-laws will be followed. Change of land use of an area 3,164.3 sqm from recreational to residential located at Trilokpuri has also been approved," said a DDA official.
"On the request of DMRC [Delhi Metro Railway Corporation] for allotment of land measuring 18,452 sqm on a permanent basis near Netaji Subhash Place for Metro Station/Entry/Exist and Traffic Circulation for Mukundpur-Yamuna Vihar corridor of MRTS project, Phase-III, a proposal for change of land use for an area measuring 18,452 sqm, near Netaji Subhash Place, Pitampura, Zone-H, from Recreational (P-2 District Park) to Transportation (T-3 MRTS Circulation), has been placed before the Authority," added the official.
