Kirti Nagar murder: SHO, S-I injured in clashes, 2 held

Hundreds of people gheraoed the Kirti Nagar police station demanding justice for 18-year-old boy Manoj who was murdered by four men in Kirti Nagar area of west district. The SHO of Kirti Nagar and one sub-inspector sustained injuries in the violent protest by the locals of the area. The two main accused in this case were identified as Sonu and Raman who were later arrested.

The incident happened on February 5, when the police received a call that a person has been stabbed. On reaching the spot, the cops took the boy, who had a sharp injury mark on his neck, to the hospital but he was declared brought dead. The investigation revealed that the deceased was murdered by four persons of the same locality. "It has come up that the accused reside around 50 meters away from deceased's residence.

Both parties had a quarrel one week back on the issue of passing objectionable remarks against females of each others' families. But no police complaint or PCR call was made by anyone," said DCP West Vijay Kumar. On Monday, around 500 people demonstrated in front of Kirti Nagar police station demanding justice and alleging police inaction on their complaint in this regard.

During the demonstration, the protestors damaged a bike of a beat staff and also dismantled a temporary structure belonging to the Delhi Transco Ltd.

The protestors accused police of inaction and indulged in stone pelting at police personnel in which the SHO of PS Kirti Nagar and one SI got injured. "As far as the complaint of inaction by police is considered, it is being inquired," said the officer.

According to the police sources, there have been cases of hurt and attempt to murder amongst families of both sides. During the investigation of a kidnapping case registered last year, the deceased's brother was questioned by cops at the information of Sonu (accused of the present case). The cops have now formed several teams to arrest the accused who are still absconding.
