Cops manage to arrest criminal who opened fire at policemen

In a second encounter in less than 10 days in South-east district, the cops on Monday arrested a criminal Akbar after he fired 8 to 10 rounds at the cops of which, two bullets hit the bulletproof vests of the cops.
A similar incident of encounter was reported on January 27 in Okhla Industrial area as well where a notorious criminal Kasim Mullah fired four rounds a the cops, two of which hit their bulletproof jackets.
The cops, however, failed to hit the target in both the encounters despite being shot at by the criminals.
When the cops got the information that the rewarded criminal Akbar, alias Danish, of the Satte gang, who carries a reward of Rs 25,000 on him, will come near the Eros Hotel red light near Nehru Place, specific arrangements were made to apprehend him.
At about 2.50 am on Monday, two persons, Asif and Akbar, wanted in the case of Pul Prahladpur firing, were intercepted by the cops when they tried to flee.
The police team then chased the criminals. After seeing they are surrounded, the criminals opened fire at the cops. Two of the bullets hit the cops on their bulletproof vests and five rounds were fired by the cops in self defence. Akbar was finally nabbed by the cops but his associate Asif managed to give a slip and escaped by firing at the cops.
When DCP South-east Romil Baniya was asked why are the criminals hitting precisely at the cops but the cops are missing aim, he replied: "The criminals have nothing to loose but the cops have a responsibility that under no circumstance any team member is hurt."
