Gambling racket busted, four arrested in Shahdara

In yet another case, the Shahdara district police have busted a gambling racket. Four persons were arrested who had set up a gambling racket near the railway fatak in Shahdra's Old Seelampur district. Rs 5,280 in cash and three plastic coins were recovered from the accused.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), Nupur Prasad, the case had come to light when the police received inputs that some certain people were gambling in the region and had set up a stall, wherein, they would attract customers with several games.
The police constituted a team, which was deputed to the spot. They had noticed that the accused persons had set up a game in which plastic coins would be painted with black and red colours at the back. The player had to correctly guess the right colour to win the bet. The players were also being offered five times the bet.
The police arrested the four accused — Deepak, Saddam, Pappu and Sumit. During interrogation it was found that Saddam, Pappu and Sumit would pose themselves as players and would win the games three-four times in a bid to attract other players.
