Violence likely to continue in Najafgarh's gang war

The gang wars in Najafgarh had seemed like a distant dream after the high profile murder of Ex-MLA, Najafgargh, Bharat Singh. The police had arrested the main accused, Manjeet Mahal, the most wanted gangster from Outer Delhi, and thought that the revenge killings would come to an end, but after Manjeet's father was killed the main suspects are said to belong to Krishan Pehelwan gang as the cycle of violence is expected to continue in Najafgarh.
The police have so far remained tight-lipped in the murder of Sri Kishan and have refused the fact that this was a revenge killing. However police sources have told Millennium Post that this murder was planned well in advance, and Krishan Pehelwan's gang may be involved in the killing.

"We had been expecting a gang-related murder. The last time such a murder took place was when Vipin, the main witness in the Bharat Singh MLA killing case was eliminated in a honey trap. In this area, revenge killings have wreaked havoc since decades. The gangsters will eliminate the entire family of rivals during a feud. We suspect that Krishan Phelwan's gang was behind the killing, but will probe the case from all angles," said a police source.

Manjeet Mahal, involved in about two dozen cases of extortion, murder, attempt to murder and arms act, has two high profile murders to his name. The first was the killing of MLA Bharat Singh, who was eliminated, as he and his brother, local criminal Krishan Pehelwan, had killed notorious gangster Udaiveer's family members in a wedding.

Bharat Singh met the same fate as he was killed in front of 200 guests while he was attending a social function in Najafgarh in March 2015. Several criminals were arrested but Manjeet managed to evade the police. Later he went on to kill Sunil alias Doctor, a rival, along with his associate, Nafe alias Mantri.

Manjeet was later arrested by the police and is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail. The police is now on the look- out for the associates, who may have been contract killers hired by rival gangs. "The main gang under our radar is the Pehelwan gang. But since Mahal was active for over two decades, he had made a lot of enemies, " the source added.
