Cops book mother for throwing her child off stairs

An enraged mother threw her two-and-a-half-year-old baby from the stairs of her house allegedly following an argument with her in-laws in South-east Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area. The incident is captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the house and the cops have registered a case under Section 308 of the IPC.

In a CCTV footage that shows the recording date as January 11, a woman is seen picking up baby and rushing towards the staircase. Later, she is seen throwing the baby from the stairs. The cops say that the baby was taken to AIIMS Trauma Center with blunt injuries on the face and body.

Though police sources say that the family had made PCR calls earlier too but throwing the child has come up for the first time.

"The family said that the incident happened on January 21. We have registered a case under proper sections," said DCP South-east Romil Baniya.

The cops have seized the CCTV footage and will take proper action once they are done with proper investigation.
