A deadly fire broke out in the market of Tugalpur, Greater Noida which burnt over 300 kiosks of fruits, vegetables, garments and groceries to ashes in the dawning hours of Wednesday. The fire caused an estimated damage to property and material worth Rs 2 crore while three people got injured due to the fire. Tugalpur area is situated near Pari Chowk and the market caters to the daily needs of the local residents. The fire got triggered at around 3 am on Wednesday and gutted hundreds of kiosks belonging to people of lower-middle strata of society.

The neighbouring people informed the fire officials when they found smoke coming out of the stalls. We received a call at around 3 am and around 12 fire engines were pressed into action and we took control over the flames in three hours, said fire officials. The fire might have triggered due to a short circuit and it rapidly spread due to wood and garment stock at the spot. Other than that, there was also presence of some LPG cylinders which boosted the fire, said fire officials.
