Najeeb's family receives ransom call, one arrested
In an important development, JNU student Najeeb's relatives got a ransom call of Rs 20 lakh for his release. The JNU student has been missing since October last year and the case is now being handled by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. Confirming the call for ransom, the Joint CP Crime R S Yadav said: "We have arrested the accused from Maharajganj in UP and have taken his transit remand.
He is being brought to Delhi." The cops say the caller is giving different names to mislead the investigation. It is still unclear if the caller really has any clue of Najeeb or has just made a ransom call out of mischief. The cops are taking the ransom call very seriously. The interrogation of the caller would reveal more details. The Delhi police have already announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for anyone providing any clue of Najeeb.
