A day after the Delhi Police commissioner was formally announced the CBI Director, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal paid a visit to the Delhi Police headquarters for the first time.
The LG visited the PHQ at 11.15 am on Friday and stayed there for approximately three hours. The top officers of the force were also present in the interaction with the LG. Anil Baijal was shown different departments in the headquarters. The LG also interacted briefly with mediapersons.
"I have come to the PHQ and discussed the law and order situation and how it could be improved. I have also visited the Police Control Room department," the LG replied.
Baijal also directed the officers to engage with youth and the community in a big way to effectively communicate and connect with them.
He said that modern day policing is challenging and a complex task in a mega city like Delhi and therefore police must technologically upgrade itself on one hand and build strong relations with the community on the other.
When asked about the files that have been marked by the LG's Office to the CBI he replied: "Let him sit in the chair and then he will answer," pointing towards Alok Verma.
