'NDMC's 'Happiness areas' to help relieve people of mental stress'

New Delhi: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said that the "Happiness areas" developed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) would help to relieve the mental stress and physical fatigue of residents and visitors. "It will also enhance the natural beauty of New Delhi and lessen the air pollution," he said.

After inaugurating the Happiness area at Yashwant Place in Chanakyapuri, Puri said that NDMC under the Smart City Projects has started a number of initiatives at public places to enhance the grandeur of parks and roundabouts as live areas through fountains, proper lighting, secured and safe.

On the occasion, Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ganga Ram Ahir has inaugurated two smart public toilets by remote-control at outer circle of Connaught Place and near Shivaji Bus Terminal in New Delhi and also released a booklet on daily basis report on "Swachhta-Hi-Sewa Pakhwada" activities, undertaken during September 15 – October 1, by NDMC and released a short film on the "Smart City Projects of NDMC".

NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar informed that under the project of Happiness area development, the Council had developed a number of green areas in New Delhi like Indo-African Friendship Rose Garden, Indo-BRICS Rose Garden, Indo ASEAN Garden and Charkha Park.
