NDMC to hold cycling event on World Bicycle Day

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Friday announced that it will organise a cycling event for the masses on June 3, a date which was recently announced by United Nations as World Bicycle Day.
NDMC chairperson Naresh Kumar said the event would be organised in association with World Cycling Alliance at Connaught Place.
The event will have participation of thousands of cyclists and will be flagged off by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu from the Charkha Museum at Connaught Place.
On the occasion, Naidu will unveil the cycle station for Public Bike Sharing System (PBS) scheme of NDMC in New Delhi area.
The Council is introducing the PBS system to provide low cost environment friendly mobility option to residents.
The route of the cycle event will be Radial Road Baba Kharak Singh marg – Mother Teressa Marg – Teen Murti Circle – U turn on Mother Teressa Marg – Baba Kharak Singh Marg – left turn from near Khadi Emporium to Shivaji Stadium.
The bicycles would be issued from the parking area Inner Blocks to the Bid Holders participants which have RFID Tag and their informations.
As many as 1,750 bikes and 250 smart bikes are being issued to participants, whereas around 500 general public and voluneteers with own bikes will get themselves registered.
500 girl students between Classes IX and XII from NDMC schools will also participate in the event.
