NDMC employees take Swachhta oath

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Friday vowed to make the New Delhi area 100 percent segregation of waste at source.

For this purpose, 50,000 households in New Delhi would be covered by volunteers, RWAs, market associations, students of and colleges, NDMC workforce of safai sevaks and employees of Civil and Horticulture Department as well.

To mark World Environment Day on June 5, the Council envisages converting at least five of its residential colonies intozero waste areas.

The statement came from NDMC Chairperson Naresh Kumar, after administrating the oath of swachhta to over 10,000 of its employees at NDMC Headquarters on Friday.

Calling upon the NDMC team, he said they should come forward to spread the message of segregation of waste at source to their nearest and dearest so as to make it a mass movement.

Underlining the importance of a healthy environment and cleanliness, Kumar said that the NDMC had launched a 45 days swachhta campaign, aimed at bringing about behavioral change in the public at large and to sensitise people from all walks of life to make swachhta a routine and regular exercise in their daily life.
