NCRTC starts piling work on Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor

New Delhi: In another significant step to realise the vision of transforming public transport in National Capital Region, NCRTC started the piling work near Duhai on Delhi-Meerut road on Monday. The official said that the 17-km priority section of the project between Sahibabad and Duhai is targeted for commissioning by March 2023. This is in continuation of works being carried out for implementation of India's first, 82-km long Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS Corridor.

The NCRTC official also said that the piling work is being done to build foundation of structures for building elevated viaducts. NCRTC had recently awarded the work of construction of viaduct and station in Ghaziabad-Duhai section to APCO–CRFG JV.

"Construction areas will be suitably barricaded to ensure safety of citizens during construction. The construction sequence has been planned carefully to reduce inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters," official added. He said, "Marshals will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction. NCRTC has also started community interaction programs for sensitizing stakeholders about the RRTS project and to brief them construction methodology, construction sequencing and steps being taken to ensure safety on one hand and reduce inconvenience during construction on the other."

This high-speed, high-frequency, high-capacity RRTS corridor will not only offer mass transit benefits but also bring in wide range of economic benefits to the society including effectively curbing pollution, improving safety and reliability of commute and creating employment as well as new economic opportunities. Apart from unlocking economic development potential of the region, such high-speed commute will bring people and places closer enabling polycentric growth in NCR.

The 82-km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor has 24 stations.
