Nat'l School Swimming Championship kicks off

NEW DELHI: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday inaugurated the 63rd National School Games in Swimming and Diving at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex at Talkatora Stadium, here on Saturday.
The event, being organised by the Directorate of Education for Sports, will take place between November 25 and 29, and will include 25 different games.
Students will compete over five days in these games for 103 events. Around 1,831 players and 290 coaches are participating from across the country.
The games will see both boy and girl students participating in the age categories of Under-14, U-17 and U-19.
After opening the ceremony, Sisodia said, "For the first time, the games are being organised at an international sports facility. The Government of NCT of Delhi has made arrangements of boarding and lodging of the players and officials in the hotels. Breakfast and dinner will be provided at the hotel, while lunch and evening snacks will be provided at the competition venue itself."
"Necessary transportation arrangements have been made to pick the players and officials from the railway stations, bus terminals and airports," Sisodia, who is also the Delhi Education minister, added
Delhi Education Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava was also present at the programme. Renowned Olympic wrestler and officer on special duty (Sports) Sushil Kumar also welcomed all the participants and officials.
