Narela firecracker factory busted, huge cache of crackers recovered

NEW DELHI: A tempo search led Delhi police to unearth a huge illegal firecracker factory in Narela area of outer North Delhi.

The Delhi police claim to have seized 125 cartons of firecrackers ready for sale, 10 machines for manufacturing firecrackers, around 400 bags of raw material "Daana" and an acidic liquid were found inside the premises. Thereafter, godown at F-Block DSIIDC, Bhorgarh Narela, Delhi was also raided, wherein approximately 500 sealed boxes of same firecrackers were recovered.

The factory came to light after the driver of a tempo was interrogated by Delhi police.

On questioning, driver Deepak disclosed that he was carrying firecrackers in his tempo. He was transporting these firecrackers from a factory at E Block DSIIDC Narela, Delhi to the godown at F-Block, DSIIDC, Bhorgarh, Delhi.

On checking the vehicle, a total of 45 sealed boxes concealed in plastic bags, containing firecrackers were found loaded. A team was constituted immediately under the senior police officers and conducted a raid at the factory in E-block, DSIIDC, Narela. Factory owner Rajkumar, a resident of Bhagwan Das Nagar Extension, East Punjabi Bagh, Delhi was found present there. The three-storey factory building with basement was searched and a huge quantity of firecrackers packed in cartons was confiscated.
