Murder over injury to dog: 19-yr-old arrested

New Delhi: A day after the murder of a man who touched a dog with his tempo in Uttam Nagar, police on Sunday said that they arrested a 19-year-old involved in the murder.

Police identified the accused as Karan Arora who lives in Mohan Garden area has been arrested. Investigators further said that three persons are absconding in the case.

Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased man, who was also stabbed, is battling for life in a city hospital.

"Accused Karan is an immediate neighbour of the main accused Ankit and Paras, they are very close friends. Karan is studying in Class XII and going to appear for the Class XII examination from the open board in Delhi," cops said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that Karan was involved in committing the murder of Vijender Rana and assaulting his brother Rajesh on the night on September 6, at DK road area of Mohan Garden.

"Accused Ankit, Paras and Dev are at large. Raids are being conducted at various places," he said.

The incident took place around 12.50 am on September 6, when a tempo driven in the narrow lanes of Uttam Nagar by 40-year-old Vijender Rana slightly grazed the pet dog of one of the four accused.

On seeing this, the dog's owner Ankit became infuriated and the two got into an argument.

Soon, he was joined by three other men — his brother Paras, tenant Dev Chopra and neighbour Karan — who attacked Vijender and his brother Rajesh two brothers with screwdrivers.

Unarmed and outnumbered, the siblings were repeatedly stabbed by the three men.

By the time family members of the victims reached for help, the two were critically injured. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital, where Vijender was declared 'brought dead'.

His brother Rajesh is still under observation.
