Murder bid of restaurant owner foiled

New Delhi : Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two gangsters and foiled an extortion bid on the owner of "The Spice Kitchen" restaurant at Rawata more in Jaffarpur Kalan. Police identified the accused as Ravi Kharab (21) and Tinku (19). "They were arrested on the basis of information that these criminals would assemble at Mitraon Chowk, Kair village between 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM on September 17 to execute the murder of restaurant owner," police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) G Ramgopal Naik said that on September 11, at about 8:30 PM, a firing incident had taken place at a restaurant in Rawata More in which one customer identified as Sunder was injured. Later, the owner of the restaurant received extortion call of Rs 30 Lakh through anonymous number. The extortionist represented himself as Satender, brother of the gangster Pradeep Solanki.

The team of crime branch led by inspector Kuldeep Singh and under the close supervision of Shweta Singh Chauhan,( ACP/STARS-I) made the arrest. On interrogation, the accused disclosed that they are the aids of gangsters Manjeet Mahal and Satender. Both the accused are childhood friends started following Satender. Through this social account, Satender contacted these criminals to extort money from the restaurant owner.
