Munirka rescue: Police may land in Nepal for inquiry

New Delhi: Two days after 16 girls rescued from Munirka area of South Delhi area, police can go to Nepal for further investigation. Police claimed that no arrest has been made in the case as they have continued questioning few persons in this regard on Thursday.

An investigator said that if investigation demands they can visit some places in Nepal from where the girls came to India. Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal who led the rescue operation on Tuesday tweeted "Met 16 rescued Nepali girls with Nepal Ambassador on Thursday. Nepal Government is working out safe passage back home for the girls. Have appealed to the Ambassador to ensure proper jobs for the girls along with arrests of the traffickers in Nepal."

Meanwhile, Delhi Police tweeted that "With regard to the incident of rescue of 16 Nepali Girls, on receiving the information from DCW, the Delhi police team took the initiative of taking a prompt legal action and carried the rescue operation. Case registered under relevant IPC sections". In another tweet, the law enforcement agency stated that "Rescued girls produced before magistrate for recording their statements. All 16 girls are safe in shelter homes. Special team under Add. DCP South West is further investigating to ensure legal action against the culprits involved in the crime."
