Gurugram: Mixed response was seen from moviegoers in Gurugram on the first day of the release of 'Padmaavat', as crowds for the morning show remained muted.
Cinema owners, however, said that the film is generating positive response and weekends are likely to see better collections.
Apart from Delhi residents, a sizeable number of people from Jaipur also reached the city to watch the movie.
"I was interested in watching the movie in Jaipur. But there are no theatres screening the movie, so I came here. Frankly, I did not find anything objectionable in the movie.
"I feel it was not a bad decision to come from Jaipur to Gurugram and I will advise my friends to watch it," said Ajay Singh, a moviegoer.
Another Jaipur resident Ramesh Sanghi came to see the movie with his wife.
"The film is not great, but the hype generated by it will make sure that it becomes a major hit. There were a large number of people who booked their tickets just to protest the violence in the city demanding to ban the film," he said.
"I felt it was important to watch the movie to make a bold statement that we will not be bullied," said Sheetal Singh, a Gurugram resident.
According to some distributors, the film, on Thursday, ran with 50 to 75 per cent occupancy.
While most multiplexes in Gurugram mustered courage to show the film, there are some that decided to shun it.
Though owners of cinema halls in the city remained anxious, moviegoers, on the other hand, were excited to watch the movie.
