Morning walkers get free health check-up at five NDMC camps

New Delhi: To commemorate Ayushman Bharat Diwas, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) organised a Free Health Check-up and Awareness Camps at its five major gardens on Monday.
Aiming at the wellness of the morning walkers, this facility had been extended under the overall supervision and guidance of NDMC Secretary Rashmi Singh at Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden, Children Park at India Gate and Sanjay Jheel at Laxmibai Nagar in collaboration with the Fortis Escort and Moolchand hospitals.
Dr SK Sharma of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, who is a regular morning walker at Nehru Park, said that in the wake of hectic life styles, stress has become a major concern for people, especially in metropolitan cities.
"Such types of awareness camps should be organised on a regular basis," he said.
As many as 1,200 morning walkers underwent medical check-up in the five NDMC gardens and 67 patients were detected to have diabetes, 73 people were detected with hypertension. Bone density tests were conducted on 165 people, in which 70 per cent people had low bone density and about 20 patients showed age-related changes.
350 persons underwent consultations for AYUSH system of medicines like naturopathy, yoga, diet and nutrition.
