More trouble for Amrapali, EOW books directors for cheating buyers
New Delhi: In another case, the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police booked directors of Amrapali builders for cheating buyers on the pretext of providing flats.
According to police, the complainant in the case had purchased a flat in the group housing project named "Amrapali Kingswood" situated in Greater Noida. The project was launched by the real estate company in the year 2010.
"The company officials through broachers, advertisements and communications misrepresented the public including the complainant," police said.
The complainant told the police that the company through its authorised signatory executed an allotment cum flat buyer agreement in the year 2013 with him.
The complainant further told police that construction of the flat was to be completed latest by December 12, 2017 (including the grace period of six months).
"However it has been almost approx 63 months (5 years 3 months) from the date of signing of the agreement but till date, the real estate company have utterly failed to complete the project," complainant further added.
According to the complainant, he had regularly paid all the installments on or before due dates as per the agreement by taking the loan from the bank and investing his hard-earned money.
According to investigators, they received 10 complaints of similar nature against the same project. "On the complaints, a preliminary enquiry was conducted. During the pendency of the enquiry, 67 more complaints of similar nature against the same project were also received, who are also victims. The total amount of Rs 19 crores (approx) is involved in the complaints," police said.
A case under sections 409, 420 and 120 B of IPC was registered at EOW police station.
In August, EOW had registered another case of cheating against the company. In July, two prominent officers of Amrapali Builders were arrested.
Another private company booked for cheating
A case was registered against a private company for duping buyer on the pretext of providing flat. Additional CP(EOW) Suvashis Choudhary said that the complainant, in 2009, booked a flat in a project developed by a company named TDI. In the same year, the complainant was allotted with the flat in the said project. Despite payment of 90 per cent amount to the company. TDI neither handed over the possession of flat nor returned the amount.
