The Delhi Commission for Women's (DCW) 181 women's helpline number on Wednesday facilitated the rescue a 14-year-old girl from the clutches of traffickers, who had brought her to Delhi a year ago on the pretext of providing employment as a domestic help. The girl was, however, raped and sexually assaulted multiple times.
DCW's 181 received an anonymous call about a minor girl who had been deserted on the road. Her clothes were reportedly torn and she was inconsolable. The anonymous caller told the Commission that the girl said she was being chased by some men who wanted to abduct her.
Immediately after the call, the Mobile Helpline (MHL) Counsellor was informed who told the local police about the case. The counsellor, with the MHL van, immediately reached the spot and rescued the girl with the help of police.
The minor girl informed that she belonged to Odisha and her father had passed away some time back. She said that she had been brought to Delhi from her village a year ago by a lady named Durga, who promised her employment.
Durga runs a placement agency in Delhi's Shakurpur area by the name of Durga Placement Agency. Initially, the girl was placed in a home in Vikaspuri as a domestic help. However, even after working for eight months, the girl was not paid a single paisa and instead all her money was taken by Durga.
The girl further informed that two months ago Durga took her from the Vikaspuri house and accommodated her in the house of a woman named Rita in Shakurpur. For the last 15 days, three-four men used to visit Rita's house and rape and sexually assault the minor on a daily basis.
On Wednesday, the girl managed to escape the house and was found by the caller. The girl also informed that Durga had two husbands, one who runs the placement agency and another who acts as an agent to bring girls from Odisha and push them into prostitution.
Meanwhile, the police station of Netaji Subhash Place swung into action and registered an FIR and nabbed Durga and two others. Cops are searching for other accused.
