Minor girl raped in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 15-year-old girl, student of class eight, was allegedly raped by a man living in her neighbourhood at a village in Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Wednesday night. Police have registered an FIR into the matter while the accused is absconding.

As per police officials, the incident came to light on Wednesday night when the accused, a labourer at a factory, reached victim's house around 9 pm and asked her to come along as his mother is calling her. The victim accompanied him as the accused was known to her.

However, instead of taking her to the house, the accused took her to a vacant wrecked house and raped her. He then fled away from the spot after threatening victim with dire consequences if she tells about the incident to anyone.

The minor rape victim immediately rushed to her house and narrated the ordeal to her parents. Initially the accused denied of any such incident when he was questioned by victim's family but when they threaten him with a police complaint, he started making stories.

"Following the complaint received, an FIR under section 376 (punishment for rape) and relevant sections of Protection of Child Against Sexual Offence (POCSO) act has been registered against the accused. The victim has been sent for medical examinations, reports of which are awaited. We are conducting raids at various suspected locations to nab the accused," said Anil Kumar Shahi, station House officer of Kavi Nagar police station.
