Metro stations closed before AAP march, reopened at night

New Delhi: Entry and exit at the five stations near the Prime Minister's residence, namely Lok Nayak Marg, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan and Janpath, were closed on 2 pm and later reopened at around 8 pm on Sunday, in view of the protest rally by Aam Aadmi Party workers.

The protest, which started from Mandi House, caused some hinderance for Metro commuters between, as gates at the five stations were shut.

The march, which began around 5 pm, was taken out in support of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and three of his Cabinet colleagues, who have been holding a sit-in at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal's office for the last week, demanding that he direct the IAS officers to end their 'strike'.

They also demand that he approve the proposal for doorstep delivery of ration scheme.

Lok Kalyan Marg Metro station, which falls in the vicinity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg .was the first to have been shut ahead of the march.

"As advised by Delhi Police, no entry or exit will be available at Lok Kalyan Marg station from 12 noon onwards till further directions," a senior Delhi Metro official said earlier. He later added that four more stations were closed, but interchange facilities at Central Secretariat were available.
