Mentally challenged man goes missing in central Delhi

New Delhi: A 20-year-old mentally challenged youth has been missing from Anand Parbat area of central Delhi for over a week now, with the victim's family alleging that a policeman took money from them to search for him.
According to the family, Maksood went missing from his cousin Noor Alam's factory in Anand Parbat's Nehru Nagar area on May 3 and is said to have accompanied a woman who works in a nearby factory.
"Maksood can barely tell his address. The police has neither talked to the woman and instead took Rs 500 from us. We feel the police are not making efforts," said Noor Alam, Maksood's cousin.
Maksood arrived in Delhi last month and had been residing with Noor, who brought him from Sultanpur to employ him in his motor spare parts factory.
On May 3, around 8 pm, Maksood followed a woman from a nearby factory and was not seen since.
The youth's family claimed that the woman told them that she sent Maksood back midway.
"We have told the police that he is also carrying a phone with him, but it seems our pleas are falling on deaf ears. His phone was on till 12 pm on May 4. They haven't tracked his location yet," said Noor.
The family also said they are worried as Maksood could be in danger.
"The boy was afraid even to cross the road. We feel he could be in the same area, but we need police to intensify their efforts to find him," said Noor.
